Bristol Colts Continue Winning Start

Bristol Colts continue their winning start to the season with a 65.0 thumping of Whitehall at the weekend. Bristol scored 11 tries in the match but also showed great defensive work to keep their hosts from scoring.

Under 16's defeat Redruth

Bristol Under 16's came from behind to defeat a strong Redruth in a very competitive match. Bristol trailing 5-3 put constant pressure on the visitors defence, which eventually allowed the backs to create space to cross the line with only two minutes remaining. A superb touchline conversion from George Watkins brought the score to 10-5. Bristol then endured a scary last minute when a wayward pass allowed Redruth to charge downfield before they kicked for the corner with the kick going long followed by a welcome final whistle.

Bristol Youth Rugby re-establish a Colts side with the help of the Under 17's

We have now linked our two age groups of Under 19's and Under 17's to form a Colts side. This set up will allow our 17's to play their cup and competition matches and allow the Colts to fulfill their league and cup commitments. This move has already paid dividends with the Colts winning their first match at Dings and then going on to defeat Midsummer Norton, the early favourites for the Colts league title in hard fought match at Stoke Gifford.

Bristol have further established their partnership with Filton college

Filton have developed a first class rugby academy at their new WISE Campus at Stoke Gifford, which is attracting quality players to attend the College for their further education requirements. A total of 20 Bristol Youth Rugby players have now started attending the College and playing for the academy. Off the pitch we are working with the College to develop and improve the current facilities and make best use of them.

Bristol Youth Rugby new players

We are looking for new players at all age groups to join us, in particular Under 9's, 10's 12's and 15's but all players are welcome along. Also any budding coaches who would like to get involved in helping these young players develop their rugby skills are also welcome. There is a great satisfaction inn watching young players improve and develop into top class rugby players. New players can attend training on Wednesday evenings at 7.30pm or Sunday mornings at 10.30am.

Success of 2 players

Two players who previously played in the Bristol Mini & junior ranks have been given their opportunity in the Bristol First Team. Dave Attwood (Lock) and Ashley Maggs (Centre) both took the field in the recent EDF match against rivals Gloucester. The club wishes them every success for the future.
