BYR vs Broadplain at Avonmounth

It was a clear sunny but crisp day at the Avonmouth grounds and there were many matches that day, from under 7’s to the adults.

The teams had now played two other games and were tired but still wanted to play the third game. So it was decided that it would be a shorter match.

BYR kicked off the game and Joaquin was first on the score sheet with BYR taking the lead, 1-0. Broadplain marched forward but had a turnover on the line. Then came a swift move from BYR, with only two passes and then onto a Joaquin sprint, from his line to the Broadplain’s line to up the score to 2-0 to BYR.

Broadplain’s turn and they got in the game with their next few passes, 2-1 to BYR. BYR got their game back on after their defeat of the last game. This resulted with some superb passing by the team and just at the very end the last past was to Joaquin who made it 3-1 to BYR.

Broadplain’s ball, Broadplain losses the ball just as they were near BYR’s try line. This was to their detriment as Kai took hold and made a line to line dash and made it 4-1 to BYR at the half.

Halftime

Play resumed, it was Broadplain’s ball and they wanted to be back in the game. Soon enough they were, with their second try of the game, 4-2 to BYR. BYR tried to pull away and increase their score but was then caught offside. Braoadplain was then caught in a similar trap and the ball was then back with BYR and it was soon another try by Joaqiun, 5-2.

Broadplain maked some good moves here and looked for moment like they were going to get back in the game with one more added to their tally, 5-3 to BYR.

Is their hope for the Broadplain to seriously get back in the game? Or is it too late?

BYR thinks its too late as another surge by them sees the score advance to 6-3 with a Joaquin try down the centre and then the side.

Boadplain moves up a gear only to be stopped again near the BYR try line. This sets up the last play of the game and it ends with two great passes from BYR near their line and with a fantastic sprint down the sideline ends the game at 7-3 to BYR with Kai making the try.

BYR the gave an imitation champagne celebration to Broadplain and came off the pitch exhausted but elated at their triumph and well enjoyed morning at the Avonmouth ground.

These were the last few games of the season and the kids, the parents and the entire crowd thoroughly enjoyed every minute of them.

Until September!
